When you want more productivity in an efficient way and thereby improving the collaboration of your members, Microsoft Teams is one of the best options you can opt for. Besides, Microsoft Teams is a beneficial option for the ones who want to manage different members who are scattered in different areas. In addition to that, it is a good option for in-house projects.

Now as you know, the Microsoft Teams is a great choice of communication for group projects. However, it is not for all, that is why you might opt for uninstalling it from the system.

Apart from that, there are a lot more major reasons to remove it from the system. Also, a user on Reddit reported “I’m getting really frustrated. I delete it, after every restart it just keeps returning. Aggressively. It doesn’t like the password (because we’re not paying for it as part of our O365) but insists on badgering for a password that does not exist. Has anyone been successful in getting rid of this program permanently?”

So, if you are here to know how to perform Microsoft Teams uninstall process, then you are in the right place. As in this article, we will be discussing this.

Why Microsoft Teams Opens Automatically?

Microsoft Teams gets installed by default with the Microsoft Office 365 Subscription. Once it is installed, it will keep running automatically when the system boots. However, sometimes you might want to disable Microsoft teams and not uninstalling from the system completely. So, if you want to stop the Microsoft teams to start automatically when the system boots, you can check out the given below methods for disabling Microsoft Teams.

Method 1: Using the System Tray

When the Microsoft Team is installed in the system, you will be able to see a purple icon on the System Tray. Perhaps, if you are unable to see the purple icon, then click on the Up arrow on the taskbar to see more menus.

  • After that, you have to right-click the icon followed by clicking on the Settings.
  • Now, you will see the option “Do Not Auto-Start Teams”, click on it.
  • Once done, again, go to the purple icon and right-click on it. Now, click on the Quit option.

After you have completed the above process, now the Microsoft Teams will not start automatically when the system boots.

Method 2: Using the Settings

You can even opt for this process as well for stopping the Microsoft Team from starting automatically. Here’s how you can do this:

  • Open the Settings, you can either press and hold Windows key + I or you can simply click on the Start Menu. From there, go to Settings.
  • Once the Settings opens, locate and click on the Apps.
  • Then navigate to the right panel, followed by selecting the Startup.
  • Once the Startup window opens, go to the right panel, and find Microsoft Teams.
  • Then just turn it Off.

Method 3: Use Task Manager

If the above methods failed to stop the Microsoft Team to start when the system boots up, then you can use the Task Manager to simply solve it. Follow the given below steps to disable Microsoft Teams.

  • Right-click on the Taskbar and click on the Task Manager, to open it. Alternatively, you can press and hold Ctrl + Shift + Esc on the keyboard.
  • After the Task Manager tab opens, hit the Startup tab.
  • Now, locate the Microsoft Team, and then right-click on it.
  • After that, click on the Disable from the menu that pops up. Lastly, just restart the system to modify the changes.

Here’s What You Can do Before Uninstalling:

There are a few things you can follow before you go with the uninstallation of the Microsoft Teams from the system.

Clear the Cache in Teams Folder

  • Open the Task Manager. For that, you can press and hold Ctrl + Shift + Esc. Alternatively, you can right-click on the Taskbar and then click on the Task Manager button.
  • Find Microsoft Teams and then click on the End Task button.
  • Now, you have to go to the File Explorer and in the location box paste the following;

  • Once the folder opens, you have to delete all the files from the database folder, IndexedDB Folder, GPUCache folder, Cache folder, Application folder, Local Storage folder, and the tmp folder.

After you are done with the above process, you can now uninstall the Microsoft Team from the system.

  • Once the results are shown, right-click on the Windows PowerShell and then click on the Run As Administrator.
  • To allow the script to run, type the command “Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned” and hit Enter.

Two Methods: How to Uninstall Microsoft Teams Permanently

Even after you disable it by following the above methods, sometimes Microsoft Teams still keeps on starting up every time the system boots. And if you find this to be quite obstructive, then simply you can remove the Microsoft Teams from the system permanently. Reinstallation of the Microsoft Teams is done by the Teams Machine-Wide installer which you might not know.

Therefore, you have to uninstall both the files from the system. In order to do so, go through the methods stated hereunder to solve the issue.

Method 1: Using the Settings App

  • First, open the Settings from the Start menu or you can press and hold Windows Key + I on the keyboard.
  • Once the Setting opens, tap on the Apps button.
  • Now, hit the left panel, and from there, click on the Apps & Features.
  • After that, go to the right panel and on the search box, type “Team”.
  • Then the search results will show “Microsoft Teams” and the “Teams Machine-Wide Installer”.
  • Lastly, click on the Uninstall option for both of them to remove from the system.

Method 2: Use a Third-Party Application

However, you can also use third-party applications that will completely uninstall as well as remove all the files from the system. You can use the Auslogics BoostSpeed, which is a great tool to force uninstall the Teams and remove the residual files completely.

So in order to uninstall Microsoft teams, you need to go through the above-mentioned instructions till the last. After doing so, hopefully, you will be able to uninstall Microsoft Teams on Windows 10 permanently.
